YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR

Training as a young entrepreneur

Sustainable economic growth comes from a viable private sector. As part of helping people to help themselves, SWEETDALE promotes economic, social and ecological development in selected cluster communities in southern Kwazulu Natal by giving young people and households the opportunity to improve their living conditions on their own, through professional and subsequent young entrepreneurs Training.

Background

The Skills Center by Sweetdale offers training and advice in all areas of entrepreneurial activity, particularly in the area of business and legal issues and corporate finance (small loans from banks and development programs). The Skills Center by Sweetdale also provides targeted support for young people with entrepreneurial initiative in the start-up phase of their business. This is critical to the small business's eventual success or failure. The project attempts to promote economic development by promoting young small businesses.

Goal setting

The target group of the project are young people with entrepreneurial initiative who are involved in the growing private sector. The areas range from small-scale agriculture and vegetable farming to furniture production, metal processing, electrical installations to the processing of waste plastic into new products, small chicken rearing, the production of coffins to trade and services.

There are initially 15 small entrepreneurs from three districts, with the aim of initializing up to 75 small entrepreneurs. The aim of the project is to provide small businesses with targeted assistance in implementing and developing their entrepreneurial ideas.

Our joint success

With the young entrepreneur training at the Skills Center, as a logical consequence of the one-year basic training of the craftsmen, we promote the development of functioning market-economy structures, the creation of suitable framework conditions and thus improve the competitiveness of local craft and small-scale farmers. Small businesses are of central importance for economic growth and thus for the creation of new jobs. They make up the largest part of the private sector and primarily offer disadvantaged groups of the population work and income opportunities. Broadly effective growth creates economic opportunities for poor and marginalized people in society and thus ensures effective poverty reduction.
